Chelsea 2-0 Everton result - Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto secure Premier League win for Enzo Maresca's side

Everton and David Moyes’ dismal record at Stamford Bridge continued, as Chelsea got back to winning ways to leapfrog Crystal Palace into the top four in the Premier League.

Goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto ensured Chelsea picked up their first win in five games.

Palmer, who missed the midweek defeat to Atalanta, opened the scoring on his return to the side, netting his first Premier League goal in three months.

After a quiet start, Gusto picked up the ball and played an excellent through pass to Palmer, who took one touch before releasing a venomous strike past Jordan Pickford.

Alejandro Garnacho should have doubled Chelsea’s lead just minutes later, but missed an open-goal.

The former Manchester United winger had latched on to a back pass, before rounding Pickford, but Garnacho could not finish into an empty net.

Everton came back into the game, with James Tarkowski and Thierno Barry wasting huge chances to level proceedings.

However, it was Chelsea who scored the second goal of the match right at the end of the first half, with Gusto tapping home Pedro Neto’s cross.

Gusto had started the counter-attack, laying the ball off to Neto, before racing into the box to score his second of the season.

Robert Sanchez did not have much to do throughout the second half, as Chelsea controlled proceedings.

Jack Grealish had the best chance of the second half for Everton, curling just wide after the ball had fallen to him from a corner.

Iliman Ndiaye could have brought Everton back into the game with minutes to play, striking the post following a brilliant run.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side kept a second consecutive clean sheet to secure a much-needed three points ahead of next weekend’s trip to St. James' Park to face Newcastle United, while Everton host league leaders Arsenal next.

Chelsea have started the second half in control and Everton need a spark to get back into the game.

Moyes will be looking to Grealish and Ndiaye to provide his team with something.
