Carlos Alcaraz defeats Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach his first final at the Nitto ATP Finals where he will face defending champion Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz will face defending champion Jannik Sinner in the final of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals after outclassing Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets in Turin.

The year-end No. 1 was too strong as he posted a statement-like 6-2 6-4 victory in one hour and 22 minutes.

Speaking on court following his triumph, Alcaraz reflected on a scintillating opening set: "I felt like I could do everything, everything on court. It doesn’t matter if it was a forehand down the line, dropshots, backhand down the line – I felt like everything was going to be in.

"I found that confidence really helpful coming through the whole match, just pushing him to the limit, pushing him to try and do something different. I’m just happy that I continued playing such great tennis."

Asked about another title showdown with Sinner in the Italian’s homeland, he continued: "It’s great facing Jannik. If it was someone else, I wouldn’t mind to be honest, but it’s great.

"I will try to approach the match in a different way. I know I have to play my A-game if I want to beat him, to win the tournament, so we both are going to have lift our level to the top which is going to be great for the fans, for the crowd."

He added: "It’ll be like the Davis Cup. I think the whole stadium will be supporting him, which I have to be prepared for.

"I hope there are three or four friends who will be cheering for me and I will hear them more.

"It is going to be a fun and interesting atmosphere to play in just once."

Alcaraz made a lightning start as he broke to claim a 3-1 lead courtesy of a lovely dropshot-volley combination.

The Spaniard’s forehand was absolutely purring as he then broke again to seal a 37-minute set that saw him land 13 winners and offer up just two unforced errors.

Auger-Aliassime had been hoping to become the first man from Canada to reach the final in the event’s history and he stayed with the top seed early in the second stanza as he showed just why he has the most indoor wins (17) on tour this season.

However, the newly crowned year-end No. 1 was not to be denied and he broke at 5-4 as Auger-Aliassime’s forehand malfunctioned at a critical moment in the contest.  

The six-time major winner got the job done on his second match point and becomes the seventh Spaniard to reach the final of this tournament and the first since Rafael Nadal in 2013.

There are groans from the crowd as Felix shanks a backhand off court to intensify the heat on the opening point of a vital service game.

It gets worse a moment later as he slams a forehand way long to trail 0-30.

A service winner down the T keeps him involved but he miscues another forehand to offer up two match points.

The Canadian's serve comes to the rescue on the first but he misfires again off the forehand on the second - and it will be Alcaraz v Sinner in the final of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals.

Alcaraz gives Felix a taste of his own medicine with a trio of exceptional serves to move 40-0 up in the blink of an eye.

The top seed then concludes the clean hold as he applies the scoreboard squeeze by curving a crosscourt forehand pass beyond his opponent at the net.

Auger-Aliassime frustrates Alcaraz with more powerhouse first serves and the Spaniard then looks to the heavens when he drifts a tame backhand long.

Felix drags a backhand wide but shuts the door to 15 with a delicious jumping backhand overhead.

Alcaraz tries to gloss over a double fault but is pegged at Pulp (30-30) when a backhand-to-backhand exchange ends with Felix changing direction up the line and rushing a forehand error from the top seed.

The Spaniard responds with a fabulous backhand winner down the line and a clutch first serve seals the deal.

Alcaraz has dipped off God-mode in this second set which is giving Felix more opportunity to impose his own game-plan, particularly with the serve and forehand.

The Spaniard can’t get a foothold on the return and FAA chalks up a hold to 15 to level matters once more.

Alcaraz marauds to the net twice in quick succession to swish away a couple of volleys and then it’s back to unloading on that thumping forehand.

A couple of miscues long keep Felix interested and the six-time major winner blinks with a rushed forehand into the net that takes the game to deuce.

FAA is in the ensuing rally but bludgeons a backhand long. It leads to groans of dismay from the home crowd as they know what is coming as Alcaraz drills a backhand winner down the line to stay in charge of the board.

Felix crushes a brilliant crosscourt forehand drive volley as he shows more of what he’s all about to move 40-0 up.

However, the world number eight overthinks a plus-one forehand and flashes it into the net and it’s déjà vu on a second that clips the tape and flies wide.

It should have been routine but he double faults for the first time to gift Alcaraz an opening he wasn’t anticipating at deuce.

The Canadian gets back to basics but blows game point before an angled volley and a backhand long from Alcaraz gets him through a tricky situation.

It’s all business from Alcaraz as he plays solid and risk-free, powering down the first serve and letting rip with the forehand.

FAA wins one lovely point near the net but it’s all he can muster as the top seed keeps his nose in front with a game to 15.

FAA reminds everyone of his quality on an indoor hardcourt as the first serve lands and helps him motor through a hold to 15.

The Canadian is going to need to have an exceptional second set on serve to turn it around, but he does have the firepower as well as the indoor record to suggest it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.

Felix will hope this red-hot level dips or this may be over sooner than expected.

Alcaraz is producing some spellbinding moments out there.

A fabulous crosscourt forehand gets him up and running before an even better strike off that wing down the line puts FAA in all sorts of danger.

The Spaniard adds extra venom to another red-hot forehand to force an error and it’s the inside-out forehand that teases another mistake on the stretch to break to love and secure the opener in 37 minutes.

It really is like watching an artist selecting from his repertoire at times.

The Spaniard pummels a ridiculous backhand winner down the line and throws in a wonderful serve and drop volley for good measure.

The top seed completes the job with an ace to follow suit with the clean hold and move within a game of taking the opener.

Felix hammers an ace down the T and then shows excellent reflexes to steer a return from out wide into the opposite corner of the court.

The Canadian doesn’t hang about from there as another ace seals a clean hold to keep him in contention.

Alcaraz comes under pressure at 15-30 after Felix adds enough zip to a low backhand crosscourt pass to force a volley error.

The Spaniard hits back with a deep volley to the baseline but fluffs his lines at the net once more to offer up a break back point when he again fails to block off the pass effectively.

FAA has the opportunity on his forehand in the mid-court but dumps it straight into the net to alloow his opponent to make deuce.

The Canadian can’t believe it as Alcaraz’s loopy forehand under stress licks the back edge of the baseline to force the error and his mood doesn’t get much better when super retrieval from the top seed helps him to consolidate when FAA pushes a backhand long.

Felix jabs a rushed backhand long off a rapid return to his feet after a lovely volley had cancelled out another error off an acute-angled crosscourt return.

Alcaraz conjures up two more break points with a forehand approach up the line that is too hot-to-handle, but again FAA comes up clutch to fend one off.

Carlitos insists on the second, moving from a backhand-to-backhand exchange into a deep forehand that tees up the dropper. Felix tracks it down but is exposed and the top seed drifts a volley into the open court to make the breakthrough.

Alcaraz flashes an ace down the T and continues to fire off some incredible winners with the latest being a scorching crosscourt forehand en route to a game to 15.

Alcaraz produces a ridiculous open stance backhand winner down the line to pick off a short approach and then goes one better with stunning defence that leads to an inside-in forehand missile.

FAA can’t keep the ball on the island as the top seed ignites on another stonking return to tee up triple break point.

Carlitos has it in his grasp on the first of them but blasts a forehand just wide and Felix does enough with a plus-one forehand to fend off the second.

A clutch service winner takes the world number eight to deuce where he blows a few game points before finishing the job with an ace down the T.

Felix punishes a tame serve to open with a wonderful backhand return winner down the line.

Carlitos retorts with a crisp 1-2 punch off the forehand and an injection of pace of that wing in the following rally forces an error long.

The Spaniard slams a service winner down the T and shrugs off a rushed strike into the net with another thumping delivery to hold to 30.

Alcaraz will serve first.
