FINAL SERIES STANDINGS

Here are the final series standings after 11 rounds of this year’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix:

ZMARZLIK OVERCOMES DIFFICULT NIGHT TO WIN

World champion Bartosz Zmarzlik came through a tough evening to take his third FIM Speedway Grand Prix victory of the season.

After being crowned overall winner following the previous round, Zmarzlik looked out of sorts in the heats.

The Polish star was the final qualifier for the semi-final and then finished second to qualify through to the final.

However, Zmarzlik was not to be denied in the final seeing off an early challenge from Leon Madsen to send the Polish home crowd wild.

FINAL – Bewley, Madsen, Zmarzlik, Lindgren

It’s a big final with Bewley looking the quickest on track, Zmarzlik the world champion and Lindgren needing second for silver in the world championship.

Madsen takes an early lead but Zmarzlik has the outside and then challenges for the front.

Madsen pases briefly only for Zmarzlik to come charging back to win. It’s second for Madsen and Bewley in third.

Lindgren had to settle for third so will take bronze in the world championship.

FINAL GATE DRAW

Gate 1 - Bewley; Gate 2 - Madsen; Gate 3 - Zmarzlik; Gate 4 - Lindgren

SEMI-FINAL 2 – Dudek, Holder, Bewley, Zmarzlik

Dudek hugs the inside but Zmarzlik has the outside line and then passes inside Dudek. Bewley has the most speed on the course and pases the world champion to win the heat.

Zmarzlik is also into the final after fending off Dudek late on. All the finalists came from gates three and four.

SEMI-FINAL 1 – Kubera, Kvech, Madsen, Lindgren

Lindgren has to finish in the top two in the final to snatch second overall. Kubera starts well and then almost loses control of his bike.

Lindgren races through to the front on the outside and then takes a clear lead. Madsen is a clear second place to also book his final spot.

That was a breathtaking heat and an excellent ride from Lindgren from the outside gate.

Gate 1 - Dominik Kubera Gate 2 - Jan Kvech Gate 3 - Leon Madsen Gate 4 - Fredrik Lindgren

FINAL HEAT STANDINGS

After five races each the final heat standings are:

HEAT 20 – Vaculik, Madsen, Wozniak, Lebedevs

It’s a key heat to decide the final semi-final spots. Madsen takes the lead from Vaculik on the second corner and then increases his advantage. Vaculik is fighting with Lebedevs for second and third. Madsen is a clear winner, Vaculik second and Lebedevs third.

That result means that Lambert misses a semi-final place.

HEAT 19 – Huckenbeck, Bewley, Zmarzlik, Nilsson

Bewley has a good start but is chased by a determined Zmarzlik. Zmarzlik has not settled on tonight’s course and is clearly behind in second behind Bewley and Nilsson third.

HEAT 18 – Lindgren, Janowski, Kubera, Fricke

A three-way battle for the lead into the opening turn. Eventually it’s Kubera who takes the lead and the quickest line.

Janowski is holds on for second from Lindgren in third. Lindgren is into the semi-final regardless.

HEAT 17 – Dudek, Lambert, Holder, Kvech

Dudek has impressed tonight and is quickest from the inside gate. Kvech is throwing everything at Dudek who holds the lead.

Dudek wins ahead of Kvech and Holder in third. Lambert finishes fourth and faces missing the semi-finals.

HEATS STANDINGS

After four races each the standings are:

HEAT 16 – Lindgren, Nilsson, Lebedevs, Holder

Holder rides the first turn perfectly to lead. Lebedevs comes into turn three with speed and somwhow avoids crashing.

Holder is well clear but the three behind battle for second with Lebedevs in second and Lindgren third.

HEAT 15 – Fricke, Huckenbeck, Kvech, Vaculik

Huckenbeck from gate two starts quicly and takes the inside line. Vaculik battles into second position.

On the last lap Huckenbeck and Vaculik go side-by-side and the German holds on.

HEAT 14 – Janowski, Zmarzlik, Lambert, Wozniak

World champion Zmarzlik really needs to win to have a semi-final chance. Lambert takes a quick start from gate three.

Wozniak crashes out on a straight after catching a rut and is excluded from the heat.

From the re-start Zmarzlik is quickest and Janowski almost hits the back of Lambert.

Lambert is left to track Zmarzlik who defends his lead. Lambert has to settle for second and Janowski third.

HEAT 13 – Kubera, Bewley, Madsen, Dudek

Kubera gets a perfect start to lead. However, Dudek closes the door on Bewley who crashes out at high speed as both try to pass Kubera.

The referee decides to take Bewley out the heat for hitting the back of Dudek's bike. Bewley is unhappy with the decision as he took evasive action to avoid Dudek.

Bewley challenges the decision with the referee who is not changing his decision.

From the re-start Kubera starts quickly before Madsen crashes nastily into the fence stopping the heat for a second time.

It’s just a two-rider heat with Kubera taking the lead but Dudek following in his tracks. Kubera defends as Dudek goes high into the dirt.

HEATS STANDINGS

After three races each the standings are:

HEAT 12 – Zmarzlik, Lebedevs, Kvech, Kubera

A big race for Zmarzlik who needs to pick up points. The world champion has the lead until Kvech comes through quickly on the outside.

Kubera is also challenging the world champion for second. Kubera takes second and pushes Zmarzlik into third. Kvech takes an impressive win.

HEAT 11 – Lambert, Lindgren, Huckenbeck, Madsen

Lindgren battles with Lambert for the inside line, with the former winning the duel. Lambert is left defending second from Madsen as Lindgren rides away.

Lindgren wins, with Lambert taking second after just holding off Madsen on the last lap.

HEAT 10 – Bewley, Vaculik, Holder, Janowski

A big battle for the front on the opening lap with all four trading positions. However, Holder eventually grabs the lead and rides away from trouble.

Behind the remaining three riders battle for positions with Vaculik eventually taking second and Janowski third.

HEAT 9 – Nilsson, Fricke, Dudek, Wozniak

From gate two Fricke looks quickest until Dudek comes battling back and snatches the lead. Wozniak is trying to find some speed out wide but finishes third behind Fricke in second, Dudek wins.

HEAT TABLE

After two race each the standings are:

HEAT 8 – Lebedevs, Lambert, Bewley, Fricke

Lambert has a change of bike after not having a convincing first ride or qualifying. Lebedevs leads but is past by the quick riders on the outside.

Bewley has a clear advantage, while Lambert has to battle his way through on the outside. Bewley wins convincingly ahead of Lambert and Fricke in third.

HEAT 7 – Wozniak, Holder, Kubera, Huckenbeck

Kubera finds a space between two bikes on the opening turn and takes the lead. The battle behind sees Holder and Wozniak competing closely.

HEAT 6 – Madsen, Kvech, Janowski, Nilsson

Madsen takes the lead away from the tape only for Kvech to challenge on the outside. Madsen manages to hold and defend his lead before Kvech overtakes on the final lap.

Kvech takes an impressive win ahead of Madsen and Janowski in third.

HEAT 5 – Zmarzlik, Dudek, Vaculik, Lindgren

A long delay for track grading. Dudek again takes the inside and the front. However, Lindgren has lots of speedo on the outside.

After Dudek covers the first overtake, Lindgren completes it at the second attempt and takes the lead. Dudek finishes in second, while world champion Zmarzlik is far behind in third.

EARLY HEAT TABLE

After one race each the standings are:

HEAT 4 – Holder, Madsen, Fricke, Zmarzlik

Holder is in gate one and starts quickest. However, Madsen puts him under pressure and then takes the lead under his opponent.

From the outside gate Zmarzlik is left chasing in third. Madsen wins ahead of Holder and Zmarzlik

HEAT 3 – Kvech, Wozniak, Lindgren, Bewley

A brilliant start by Lindgren takes the lead. However, all four riders are side-by-side heading into the second straight.

It is Bewley who wins the battle snatching the lead from Kvech in second and Lindgren third.

HEAT 2 – Vaculik, Kubera, Nilsson, Lambert

Vaculik starts quickly, but Kubera turns on the burners coming into turn two and takes the front. Vaculik is second and after a slow start Lambert is chasing behind in third.

Kubera holds on to win ahead of Vaculik in second and Lambert third.

HEAT 1 – Dudek, Janowski, Huckenbeck, Lebedevs

The first race of the meeting. Dudek gets a perfect start from inside and is well clear. Janowski is chasing him down in second with a look at his opponent on the final lap.

Wildcard Dudek wins ahead of Janowski in second and Lebedevs third.

JASON DOYLE PLANS RETURN

WILDCARDS

The three wildcards tonight are Polish riders Patryk Dudek, Oskar Paluch and Krzysztof Lewandowski

QUICKEST QUALIFIER

Bartosz Zmarzlik looks to be the man to beat tonight and set the quickest time in qualification earleir today.

His time was quicker than Martin Vaculik in second and Fredrik Lindgren in third.

Robert Lambert could have some course learning to do after qualifying seventh fastest.

LINDGREN LOSES GROUND IN BATTLE FOR SECOND

Fredrik Lindgren is on the back foot in the battle for second after crashing during the last round in Vojens.

He sits 10 points behind Robert Lambert heading into tonight's event.

Tonight will be the last round of this year’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix. Next year there will be 10 rounds in seven countries. Great Britain will have two rounds next year with Manchester joining Cardiff

Despite experiencing some difficulties this season Bartosz Zmarzlik has ammased two wins and four runner-up positions this season.

The 29-year-old has now won the world title five times and in three consecutive seasons.

LAMBERT TARGETS SECOND PLACED FINISH

Robert Lambert goes into tonight’s meeting knowing that a final position would clinch him second place in the overall classification.

However, he is only 10 points clear of Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren going into tonight’s meeting.
