MANE LEADS SENEGAL TO AFCON FINAL
Sadio Mane scored the only goal as Senegal defeated Egypt to reach the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, ending Mohamed Salah's hopes of claiming his first continental title in Morocco.
Mane struck the decisive goal with 12 minutes remaining, firing a right-footed shot inside the left-hand post after the ball fell to him outside the box in a cagey contest in Tangier.
The victory marks the third time the Senegal forward has triumphed over his former Liverpool team-mate in a high-stakes international fixture. Both previous wins came four years ago, as Senegal beat Egypt on penalties in the 2021 AFCON final and a 2022 World Cup play-off.
Salah, who had scored four goals in Egypt's run to the semi-finals, was largely quiet as the Pharaohs struggled to test Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy until Omar Marmoush's speculative effort was saved in the fourth minute of stoppage time. A first AFCON winners medal continues to elude Salah, who now returns to Liverpool and an uncertain future.
Pape Thiaw's Senegal side will now face either Nigeria or Morocco in the final on Sunday, but they will without their suspended captain Kalidou Koulibaly, who was booked in the first half before hobbling off with a groin injury, as well as Habib Diarra.
The second semi-final takes place at 20:00 UK time on Wednesday night in Rabat.

EGYPT STICK ONE INTO THE BOX
Senegal half-clear, it comes back, and Diatta humps downfield. They're nearly there, and they've been by far the more proactive team, so will thoroughly deserve their passage, should they see this out.

SENEGAL ARE DISAPPEARING TIME PRETTY EFFECTIVELY
You'd expect Egypt to make a half-chance at least, because it feels like teams usually do, but it doesn't look likely.

WHAT A GOAL! SENGAL 1-0 EGYPT (MANE)
Goodness me, Sadio Mane conjures an eternal moment out of nothing! A ball into the channel for Jackson is recycled, Camara's shot is then charged down, and when the ball zips into Mane's path, from 20 or so yards, he lasers an insta-shot that flies low into the net before the keeper can breathe.
