MANCINI HEADS ROMA TO THE BRINK OF UCL
Gianluca Mancini’s brace of headers either side of half-time sealed a 2-0 win for Roma in a heated derby with rivals Lazio that finished with both teams down to 10 men.
It was a crucial victory for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side that propelled them above Juventus – who lost 2-0 at home to Fiorentina - and into the top four.
Beating relegated Hellas Verona away on the final day of the season is now sure to secure UEFA Champions League football for the first time in seven years for the capital club.
One of Italian football’s most heated and passionate rivalries was played out in a bizarre backdrop as Lazio supporters continued their stadium boycott in protest against owner Claudio Lotito, leaving their end of the stadium deserted.
Despite that, the Biancocelesti started brightly as Mario Gila and Tijjani Noslin were narrowly off target, only for Mancini to power home a header five minutes before the break against the run of play.

Roma improved after the break as debutant Lazio goalkeeper Alessio Furlanetto was forced into saves on Donyell Malen and Paulo Dybala, but he could do nothing to stop Mancini thundering home his second in the 66th minute.
Shortly afterwards, a large-scale scuffle resulted in straight red cards for Roma wing-back Wesley and Lazio playmaker Nicolo Rovella, leading to a 10 v 10 contest for the final 20 minutes.
Roma came close to extending their lead late on when Artem Dovbyk hit the post, Stepan El Shaarawy fired wide in his final home game for Roma and Matias Soule forced a flying save from Furlanetto.
The Romanisti roared in delight at simultaneously claiming the derby spoils and boosting their Champions League hopes, while it was another disappointing day for ninth-placed Lazio, who face a second year in a row out of Europe after losing Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final to Inter.

    DOVBYK OFF THE POST!
He’s just come on and finds himself with space in the box, but the big striker’s shot cannons back off the far post and Lazio scramble clear! It’s been – as you would expect – an open game since it became 10 v 10.
