Morgan Rogers scored two goals as Aston Villa came from behind twice to beat West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Unai Emery’s side went into the game looking to extend their winning streak of eight games but were taken by surprise inside a record-breaking 29 seconds when Mateus Fernandes pounced on Ezri Konsa to steal the ball and fired into the roof of the net from a tight angle to score the fastest goal in the Premier League season, just a day after Hugo Ekitike broke the record for Liverpool against Brighton on Saturday.

Villa recovered and equalised inside nine minutes when John McGinn’s cross bounced off Konstantinos Mavropanos, who converted into his own net to put Unai Emery’s side back on level terms.

Despite Villa pressure, it would be Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen who would put his side back ahead inside 24 minutes when he poked home from close range after Freddie Potts’ blocked shot in the box arrived at his feet.

Unai Emery’s side would have to wait until the second half to get level again when Rogers controlled Youri Tielemans' cross into the box before slotting home from inside the box.

Bowen thought he had put West Ham ahead for the third time when he found the back of the net for the second time in the game after 68 minutes when he was played through on goal, but he was rightly flagged for offside.

West Ham would continue to push to retake the lead once again with Crysencio Summerville firing over the bar, but it was Rogers who grabbed his second of the match and put Villa ahead for the first time with a stunning hit from outside the box to blast past Alphonse Areola in goal.

Villa remain third in the Premier League standings and a point behind Manchester City, whilst West Ham stay in the relegation zone, two points from safety.
