Tottenham 1-1 Sunderland result - Visitors cancel out Ben Davies' opener through a rocket from Brian Brobbey in Premier League clash

Brian Brobbey’s blistering late strike secured a point for Sunderland at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leading to more boos at the final whistle from Spurs fans.

Tottenham dominated the first half, having picked the same side who drew with Brentford last time out, very much looking like they were still feeling the effects of Thursday night’s efforts.

The goal came when Cristian Romero cut back Mathys Tel’s corner at the back post to Micky van de Ven and his goal-bound shot was turned in by Ben Davies.

Without creating a glut of chances, Spurs still looked the more dangerous until the last half-hour when Sunderland began creating repeat chances and were very unlucky not to level moments before they did, when Enzo Le Fee's header came back off the foot of the post.  

Le Fee then turned creator, playing a ball back to Brobbey which the Dutch striker brought down and then rifled into the roof of the net.

Sunderland slipped a place to eighth, while Spurs moved above Crystal Palace in the table.

He brings down Geertruida who was looking to attack on the counter attack.

But he can't steer the header into the far corner, with the ball drifting harmlessly wide.

Brobbey lays the ball off to him and the defender curls an effort on target but it was within reach for Vicario who tipped over.

He is the first Spur to get a caution.

An exocet from Brobbey after he exchanged passes with Le Fee on the edge of the Spurs box. He took the ball down and lashed it home with his left foot.

A warning for Spurs as Le Fee meets Mukiele's cross with a powerful header which comes back off the foot of the near post.

He pushes the ball past Porro, but can't keep hold of the ball and Spurs clear the danger.

Brobbey pushes the Spurs full-back down, he maybe went down a little easily, and then when he runs past him the forward grabs Porro's shirt.

Bergvall comes on for Odobert who got a knock to the face. Gray also departs with Paulhinha coming on to shore things up in front of the Spurs back four.

It put Muani through on goal but he miss-controlled it. The forward then beat Brobbey on the by-line but kicked into the side-netting from the narrowest of angles.

Spurs cleared a corner but Hume was then able to play a simple pass to Adingra, in lots of space, but after turning he curled an effort wide fo the target.
