Leeds United 3-1 Chelsea: Premier League result as Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin help hosts stun Blues at Elland Road

Struggling Leeds produced a rousing performance to beat would-be league contenders Chelsea.

The hosts got off to a flying start at a raucous Elland Road. Piling on the pressure from the off, it was only a matter time until they scored, and it was Jaka Bijol who gave them the advantage in the sixth minute, heading in a corner by Anton Stach.

Having switched to a back five, Chelsea struggled to penetrate the Leeds defence, while the home side leapt on opportunities. Ao Tanaka doubled the lead with a stunning strike in the closing minutes of the first half.

Substitute Pedro Neto gave Chelsea hope early on in the second half, despite Leeds maintaining the same energy, and Lukas Nmecha could have scored a third, were it not for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s offside.

As Chelsea started to raise their attacking game, a defensive nightmare ensued, with Calvert-Lewin making the most of a loose ball in the area to tap home.

Chelsea were not without their opportunities: Cole Palmer made an impact returning to the league after a two-month absence but was not able to find the net.

The result leaves Enzo Maresca's side in fourth place with Crystal Palace hot on their heels, but will give Leeds huge confidence as they prepare to meet Liverpool in their next match. Meanwhile, Chelsea may have questions to answer about their dependence on Moises Caicedo, who they face a further two matches without.

I Predict a Riot blares from the speakers at Elland Road, and it's hard to disagree. Three points lifts them out of the drop zone, while Chelsea will be left reeling by what can only be described as a sub-par effort. They remain in the top four, nonetheless, albeit with Crystal Palace hot on their heels.

We've a few more minutes to play, but Leeds have played a blinder tonight, and should it end as it's looking it might, they fully deserve the full three points.

Leeds need to hold onto this lead for about another ten minutes. Hopefully they can manage it. As things stand, with Forest’s earlier win against Wolves, this will lift the home side out of the drop zone to 17th.

Wowsers, a frankly horrifying goal from Chelsea's perspective. A ball in Chelsea's box is passed back, but Okafor steals it away. You snooze you lose, lads - Sanchez is off his line to scoop it up and that ball is LOOSE. Calvert-Lewin does what he must.

A great strike by Palmer who finds himself in front of the goal with a ball he must have dream of. It's a wonderful set up, but he's just wide and it fizzes just wide of the post.

It won't count, as he's a mile offside but what a strike by Nmecha. It's a shame for Leeds but Chelsea better know there's life in the home side yet.
