Leeds United 0-4 Arsenal recap - Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus goals see Gunners go seven points clear at Premier League summit

Arsenal swept aside Leeds United 4-0 at Elland Road to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, though the win was marred by an injury sustained by Bukayo Saka during the warm-ups.

Mikel Arteta’s side took a first-half lead through Martin Zubimendi, who nodded home Noni Madueke's sumptuous cross, before Karl Darlow doubled Arsenal’s advantage by punching the ball into his own net. 

Leeds came out fighting in the second half, only for Viktor Gyokeres to poke home Arsenal’s third and Gabriel Jesus to add a fourth in the game’s dying embers. 

The result sees Arsenal bounce back from last week’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United and go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, with nearest challengers Manchester City and Aston Villa playing on Sunday. 

Meanwhile, Leeds, who endured only their second Premier League defeat in 11, are six points above the relegation places, having played a game more than Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Burnley.

Jesus wins Arsenal another corner. Could they add a fifth?

Martinelli strikes a low shot toward the far post, which is parried away by Darlow and eventually cleared for a corner. Arsenal in complete control.

Rice's corner then finds Gabriel at the back post, with the ball eventually cleared off the line. Leeds just want this one to all be over.

Odegaard feeds Jesus, who does well to hold off the defender, turn and rifle the ball into the bottom corner. It is an outstanding goal. It's his second Premier League goal of the season.

Leeds make their final change as Piroe replaces Calvert-Lewin.

Rice's corner finds Califiori, who heads over and wide. It's another fantastic delivery from Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's Eze comes on for Trossard while Leeds bring on Gnonto for Stach.

Timber whips in a wonderful ball, which Jesus directs straight into the path of the Leeds shot-stopper Darlow. Again, he should have done better.

Rice goes on a surging run towards the Leeds box, only for the ball to be poked from under his feet into the path of Jesus. The Brazilian should do better, with his shot steered just wide.

Jesus and Califiori come on for Gyokeres and Hincapie. Arsenal are very much flexing their depth.

Timber whips in a cross that is just beyond Gyokeres. Darlow collects.

The Gunners scored at the perfect time - when it was just getting a little edgy.

Gyokeres adds a third to put Arsenal on course for all three points. Martinelli beats Struijk before delivering a cross for Gyokeres to poke home.

Gyokeres hadn’t scored in his last six league games before today.

Odegaard hits the ball low towards the near post, but it's cleared by Leeds.

Timber feeds Martinelli, who is held up and eventually fouled by Gudmundsson. The Gunners have a set-piece here in another dangerous position. Odegaard stands over it.

Ampadu launches a long throw into the box, only for Martinelli to hook the ball away.

Moments later, the Brazil winger is harried out of play for a Leeds corner, which is cleared by Rice.

Leeds continue to pile on the pressure. I tell you what, if they score this place will erupt.

The ball is whipped but cleared by Arsenal, who then make a couple of changes, with Martinelli and Odegaard coming on for Havertz and Madueke. The latter is my man of the match at present.

Timber fouls Gudmundsson and is booked, after raising an arm into the face of the Leeds man. This free kick is in a great spot to deliver a cross.
