RESURGENT HAMMERS FRUSTRATE EVERTON
Nuno Espirito Santo marked his first match in charge of West Ham United with a point, as Jarrod Bowen's second-half goal secured a 1-1 draw with Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Nuno was appointed as Graham Potter's replacement at West Ham on Saturday, and his lack of time with his new squad was evident in the early exchanges as the hosts dominated.
Indeed, it was Everton who scored first when Michael Keane found himself with space in the box to head home James Garner’s cross in the 18th minute.
But David Moyes' side failed to make any more for themselves in the first half, against a distinctly lackluster opponent.
West Ham came back somewhat reinvigorated after the break, and perhaps some choice words from their new manager. Crysencio Summerville looked particularly impressive.
A brilliant strike by Bowen in the 65th minute gave them parity and a renewed sense of purpose in Merseyside, but they could not go on to complete the turnaround, taking a creditable point.
Everton will next face the imperious Crystal Palace, but will do so without Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who received his fifth booking of the season. Meanwhile, Nuno's task gets no easier with a test against Arsenal.

SUMMERVILLE: 'WE TRY OUR MAGIC
Crysencio Summerville told Sky Sports that he is happy with his team’s performance and "happy with the point"
Speaking on his connection with Bowen on the left, he said:
"I think the team knows… to give us the ball and we try our magic. We tried to do that today and… We went 1-0 down and we stayed in the game."

BOWEN HAILS TEAM MENTALITY
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, goal-scorer Jarrod Bowen paid tribute to his team's character.
He said:
"It’s a big point for us and we had plenty of chances to win the game, but they had a couple of chances as well, so on reflection a fair result [but] it speaks a lot about the character of the team, Going down 1-0, and we said at half-time it’s only one goal. Whether it takes us up to 90 minutes, 95 minutes, but we knew we would get our own chances and we did and even at the end we defended well when they were pushing for a winner as well, so not a bad result."

GREENSHOOTS FOR WEST HAM?
After a pretty dire start, it must be said, Nuno will be pleased with how the team came back in the second half. Some signs of promise, perhaps? He'll find out at the weekend when they take on Arsenal.

THEATRICS FROM PAQUETA
He's not at all sure where Mykolenko just elbowed him. I mean, in fairness he absolutely did elbow him, but was it his face? Was it his stomach? Paqueta does not seem too sure as he writhes around on the floor. Mykolenko gets a yellow card for his trouble.
