Burnley 0-2 Arsenal result - Declan Rice and Viktor Gyokeres goals put Gunners seven points clear at top of Premier League

Arsenal put in a dominant performance to win 2-0 over Burnley at Turf Moor, putting them seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The result also marked an extraordinary seven consecutive clean sheets and nine wins in a row in all competitions for Mikel Arteta's side.

Viktor Gyokeres opened the scoring in the opening 15 minutes from an Arsenal corner, as Gabriel headed the ball at the back post into the forward who fired in from close range.

Around 20 minutes later, the visitors produced a fantastic counter-attack which led to Leandro Trossard chipping in a ball to Declan Rice who finished it off with a well-taken header.

The visitors had several big chances in the first half, as Bukayo Saka came closest twice as Martin Dubravka made good saves.

The second half was not so eventful, as Arsenal were happy to sit back and see out the win.

Burnley did see more of the ball after the break but were unable to break down Arsenal's imperious defence. The closest they came was in the last action of the game, when Marcus Edwards' free-kick smacked a post.

Defeat for Burnley means they go down to 17th, four points clear of the bottom three. Arsenal consolidate their position as Premier League leaders ahead of the clash against Sunderland next weekend. The Gunners ease to victory and go seven points clear at the top of the table! First-half goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Declan Rice put Arsenal in a comfortable position, and they were in cruise control for the rest of the game.

Nwaneri dribbles brilliantly to get past the Burnley midfield before driving forward to the edge of the box and attempting to curl it into the corner but his shot goes wide of the post.

Arteta also makes a change, as Martin Zubimendi comes off Christian Norgaard.

Flemming and Laurent are replaced by Hannibal Mejbri and Armando Broja.

The hosts get their first chance of the game! A free-kick is crossed into the box and met at the backpost, it is headed back into the danger area by Esteve and Florentino Luis rises highest to get his head to the ball but his effort goes wide.

A good chance for Burnley to get back into the game.

A double change by Mikel Arteta as Pierro Hincapie and Ethan Nwaneri replace Calafiori and Eze.

Bukayo Saka tees up Timber in space in the box, but the right back lashes his shot and it goes well over the crossbar.

Jacob Bruun Larsen and Loum Tchaouna are coming on for the hosts. They replace Jaidon Anthony and Lesley Ugochukwu.

Despite seeing more of the ball in this second half, Burnley are yet to register a single shot after nearly an hour played.

The Arsenal defence continues to be a very difficult one to break down.

Rice plays a long ball to Trossard, who shows excellent close control before getting a low shot away from 20 yards which is comfortably saved by Dubravka.

Zian Flemming receives a yellow card after a late challenge on Gabriel.

Trossard dinks a lovely ball into the box and Jurrien Timber tries to dive in to finish the chance, put Dubravka just about gets their before him.

Burnley get the second half underway, as Arsenal make a half-time change. Mikel Merino replaces Viktor Gyokeres and will lead the line for the Gunners.
