MORE DESPAIR FOR RUBEN AMORIM AND CO AS BRENTFORD CLAIM WIN OVER MAN UNITED
Igor Thiago netted a brace as Brentford claimed a 3-1 victory over Manchester United to leave Ruben Amorim under pressure and still waiting for back-to-back league victories as Red Devils boss.
The hosts stole in front on eight minutes when the Brazilian forward rampaged on to Jordan Henderson’s long pass and thundered a 15-yard strike into the top corner.
The Bees doubled their tally 12 minutes later when Thiago scrambled home after Altay Bayindir’s parry from Kevin Schade’s cross-shot.
At this point United were being bullied, particularly at set pieces, but the visitors reduced the arrears just prior to the half hour when Benajmin Sesko buried a rebound to snare his first goal for the club.
The Red Devils named Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in a starting XI for the first time and the latter two combined in a move that saw the former Bees star brought down for a penalty.
However, goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher saved Bruno Fernandes’ spot kick and substitute Mathias Jensen fired in a beauty of a third in stoppage-time to seal the points.
The result sees Brentford move up to 11th spot with seven points from six games. United sit just below The Bees in 13th on the same points but with an inferior goal difference.
Next up, Man United host Sunderland on Saturday while Brentford are at home to Man City a week on Sunday.

TNT SPORTS EXPERT JOE COLE LAUDS BRENTFORD BUT FELT UNITED CAME UP WELL SHORT
"First of all; Brentford, every single one of them was outstanding today. As I said earlier, Keith Andrews has got the toughest job in the Premier League and he’s done a brilliant job, they were best in every department today.
"They competed... they had quality. The third goal was outstanding.
"For Manchester United, it was abysmal."

GOAL! - BRENTFORD 3-1 MAN UNITED: (JENSEN)
That will seal the points!
The substitute joins a super counter, cuts inside from the left and sizzles a 25-yard shot beyond Bayindir.
Fletch on TNT Sports Comms: "Absolutely brilliant from Mathias Jensen! He hasn't scored a goal since October 2023 against who? Manchester United.
"And he sneaks that into the back of the net, and that's three points for Keith Andrews.
Ward: "He absolutely arrows that in, what a terrific effort from Jensen!"

'He had to wait so long' - Fernandes misses penalty after lengthy delay

Video credit: TNT Sports

Lucy Ward on TNT Sports Comms: "I honestly thought that it wouldn't affect him, I honestly did, but it was just far too long.
"Kelleher obviously did his homework on Fernandes, but you're right Darren, this game is not fair, is it to individual players, and they can't believe it in here."
Fletch: "I've got to say, I don't like that delay at all, I really don't and I feel for Bruno Fernandes. I know people might turn round and say, 'he still should score,' and I know the advantage is with him, but he knows it's a big moment, he knows it's a big situation, he's had to think about it for so long and whatever pressure he's on, has been increased."
Ward: "He tends to carry this Manchester United team on his shoulders anyway, but that triple substitution from Keith Andrews added to it. He's done that on purpose and got his reward for it."
