Bournemouth 2-2 Manchester United result – Junior Kroupi earns a point from the spot for the hosts after Harry Maguire was sent off for The Red Devils

Junior Kroupi rescued a 2-2 draw for Bournemouth as 10-man Manchester United missed the chance to put significant distance between themselves and their rivals for the UEFA Champions League spots at Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries striker came off the bench to net from the spot 10 minutes from time after Harry Maguire was sent off for pulling back Evanilson.

United had twice led with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring from a 61st-minute penalty.

Ryan Christie’s delightful finish pulled the hosts level soon after, before Fernandes’ left-wing corner caused problems and resulted in James Hill putting through his own net to restore the away side’s advantage.

However, Maguire’s error of judgment helped Andoni Iraola’s men earn a share of the spoils, with Bournemouth unable to make the man-advantage count despite a lengthy period of added time.

The result sees The Red Devils bolster their position in third place, four points clear of Aston Villa in fourth, six ahead of Liverpool in fifth and seven ahead of Chelsea in sixth, albeit having played a game more than the chasing trio.

Bournemouth, who have now drawn for the fifth top-flight game on the spin, sit in 10th position.

Next up, Bournemouth visit Arsenal on Saturday April 11 following the international break. Man United host Leeds United on Monday April 13.
