Manchester United v Brighton LIVE - Premier League result as Brighton pile more misery on Ruben Amorim

Brighton inflicted another damaging defeat on Manchester United at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter as Ruben Amorim’s toothless side could only muster a Bruno Fernandes penalty in reply.

Sir Alex Ferguson was part of a host of legendary Red Devils in attendance to pay tribute to the great Denis Law and a piper playing ‘Flower of Scotland’ led both teams onto the pitch, but United’s current generation proved no match for a hungry yet disciplined Brighton side who opened the scoring after just 10 minutes.

And United never seriously threatened Bart Verbruggen’s goal before a crippling Andre Onana error sealed a third successive Brighton victory at Old Trafford – the Cameroonian parrying a tame Solly March cross straight to Rutter, who happily accepted to seal a resounding win.

Georginio Rutter spoke to Premier League productions after his goal helped seal yet another Brighton win at Old Trafford, but deflected plaudits away from him and onto the team:

"I'm very happy but it is about the team, they help me to score every week. It can be hard when a new player comes and you are expected to score straight away but they have been patient with me.

"We are happy with three points today. It is good fans here, it is hard to play here but today we stayed calm and played with confidence."

Rutter also addressed a possible return to European football, adding: "The season is long and we have to keep going like this, taking it game by game and we will see at the end."

Brighton and Hurzeler will be basking in how quickly things can turn around in football, as a winless streak dating back to November has been snapped by three successive victories, with this one surely the best of the bunch.

The Seagulls looked composed in defense and hungry in attack as they move to just a point behind Manchester City, who play Ipswich next. Brighton are now within a win of the European places too - a position Ruben Amorim and Manchester United can only dream of right now.
