UEFA Champions League Power Rankings: Paris Saint-Germain still the cream of the crop, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid on the rise as Chelsea drop out

What a start to the UEFA Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain recorded a stunning victory at Barcelona, while Liverpool were beaten in Turkey and Arsenal made it two wins from two. Here is the second update to our Power Rankings. Who makes our top eight after Matchday 2 – and who are this week's risers and fallers in Europe's biggest competition?

We are back with the latest update of TNT Sports' soon-to-be-beloved UEFA Champions League Power Rankings for 2025/26.
After every matchweek, TNT Sports ranks the top eight teams in Europe, while also flagging three on the rise and three tumbling down.
The opening round brought plenty of fireworks: holders Paris Saint-Germain hit four goals, Liverpool pulled off yet another late show, and Marcus Rashford announced his Barcelona arrival by sinking Newcastle United at St James' Park.
But the second week changed things. PSG stunned one of the favourites, Barcelona, on the road with a sensational comeback win, while Liverpool were dealt a blow in Turkey.
So how does that shake up the ladder? Let’s get into it.
The Champions League returns on October 21 and 22, as Arsenal face a tricky test against Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid, while Liverpool look to turn their fortunes around against Frankfurt, and PSG travel to Bayer Leverkusen. You can catch the action live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
No. 8 - Man City (-1)
Man City cling on to a place in the top eight after a draw on the road at Monaco.
An Erling Haaland double (no surprise there) looked to have sealed the three points for Pep Guardiola's side, before Eric Dier stung The Citizens with a late penalty to steal a draw.
Despite falling a place in our rankings, it was not all bad for City. After a 2-0 victory over Napoli on matchweek one, they are still in a comfortable position in the league phase.

No. 7 - Atletico Madrid (new)
It is one in, one out this week, as Atletico Madrid replace Chelsea in the top eight.
Ironically, Chelsea were in during the first update despite falling to defeat at Bayern Munich, and after getting their first win on the board against Benfica, they dropped out.
It was not the most convincing of wins against Jose Mourinho's side on the iconic manager's return to Stamford Bridge, and we had to make room for Simeone's side.
After trouncing Real Madrid 5-2 in La Liga, they were our "ones to watch" last time, and they certainly delivered on that front.
It was another five-star showing as Giacomo Raspadori, Robin Le Normand, Antoine Griezmann, Giuliano Simeone and Julián Álvarez got amongst the goals in a 5-1 win over Frankfurt.
After defeat in the opening round of fixtures, the Spaniards are officially up and running.

No. 6 – Real Madrid (=)
A routine 5-0 win on the road over Champions League newcomers Kairat Almaty followed a home victory over Marseille.
Kylian Mbappe bagged himself a hat-trick in what will likely be one of the easier tests for Xabi Alonso's side, before they host Juventus at the Bernabeu in matchweek three.

No. 5 - Barcelona (-2)
Barca could have made a real statement when they hosted champions PSG, with Hansi Flick's side eager to take the Parisians' crown and win the competition for the first time in over 10 years.
Despite more magic from teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Barca squandered a one-goal lead as Senny Mayulu's equaliser and Goncalo Ramos' last-minute winner stole the points for PSG.
No. 4 - Liverpool (-2)
It was not a good week for Liverpool in the Premier League as they lost their first game of the season to a late goal against Crystal Palace, and that trend continued in Europe.
It was not quite the last-minute winner they endured at Selhurst Park, but Victor Osimhen's penalty in the 16th minute was enough for Galatasaray to overcome Arne Slot's side, who suffered their second defeat in a matter of days.
No. 3 - Bayern Munich (+2)
A Harry Kane-inspired first-half did the damage at Allianz Arena against Pafos, as the England international bagged a brace in under 20 minutes, either side of goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Nicolas Jackson.
Mislav Orsic gave the Cypriot side the slightest glimmer of hope when he scored a belter on the stroke of half-time, but in reality, there was no way Bayern - in the form they're in and with a goalscorer like Kane in their ranks - were rolling over.
Bayern added gloss to the scoreline with a fifth in the second half, as they made it six points from six to lead the league phase table.

No. 2 – Arsenal (+2)
The Gunners stay perfect in Europe, thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka in a 2-0 victory over Olympiacos at Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta's side took advantage of Liverpool's slip-up in the Premier League with late heroics to beat Newcastle United at St. James' Park ahead of a relatively comfortable run of fixtures where they can pile the pressure on their title rivals.
Next in the Champions League? They host Atletico Madrid in north London, which is set to be a blockbuster.
No. 1 – PSG (=)
Champions stay top until proven otherwise.
PSG opened with a 4-0 demolition of Atalanta, continuing their brilliant start across all competitions, before grabbing that late winner against Barca to make it two wins from two.
Another test waits as they hit the road again to face Bayer Leverkusen, and a win there would really make a statement in the early stages of the competition - a vast contrast to this time last year.

Three up
Inter
Last season’s champions are quietly going about their business.
After an impressive opening win against Ajax, they dismantled Slavia Prague, which could have been a bit of a banana skin on the wrong night. But the quality showed, as Lautaro Martinez scored a double, either side of a Denzel Dumfries strike to lift Inter to fourth in the table.
Borussia Dortmund
After that electric 4-4 draw away at Juventus, which Dortmund led 4-2 in the 90th minute, they are back on track with an emphatic 4-1 win over Athletic Club.

Qarabag
A surprise entrant to some, but Qarabag are really enjoying themselves on the Champions League stage this season.
They began with an impressive 3-2 win at Benfica, before following up with a comfortable 2-0 win over Copenhagen to join Bayern, PSG, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Inter on six points.
Three down
Chelsea
A bit of a weird one as The Blues were victorious in matchweek three, but it was far from convincing from Enzo Maresca's side, who had to rely on an own-goal from Richard Rios in the first half of a 1-0 win.
Joao Pedro also saw red and will be suspended for Chelsea's home match against Ajax.

Frankfurt
After a thrilling 5-1 win in the opening week, Frankfurt were dealt defeat by the same scoreline when they came up against Atletico Madrid.
Athletic Club
The Spaniard's dropped to 34th in the 36-team table after they suffered that heavy defeat to Dortmund, which followed a loss against Arsenal.
