GUNNERS STAY PERFECT AS TWO-GOAL MADUEKE HELPS SINK CLUB BRUGGE
Noni Madueke scored a goal of the season contender and Gabriel Martinelli made history as Arsenal remain perfect in the UEFA Champions League courtesy of a 3-0 victory at Club Brugge.
Mikel Arteta opted to make several changes from The Gunners’ defeat at Aston Villa at the weekend, but it made little difference as his side claimed the three points that move them to the brink of qualification for the knockout stages.
Madueke broke the deadlock in style as he surged beyond two challenges before rifling a stunning shot in off the crossbar on 25 minutes.
Brugge, who replaced coach Nicky Hayen with Ivan Leko at the start of the week, had their moments but the lively Carlos Forbs could not help engineer a response.
The visitors made them pay for their profligacy two minutes into the second half when Madueke nodded in his second of the night from Martin Zubimendi’s delicious cross.
Martinelli added a third just shy of the hour with his own moment of individual genius that saw him become the first Gunners player to score in five Champions League matches in a row (Squawka).
The result keeps Arsenal top of the league phase standings with six wins from six, which means one point from their final two games will guarantee a top-eight finish. Brugge are down in 30th and have it all to do to try and secure a place in the play-offs.
Next up, Arsenal continue their push on all fronts as the Premier League leaders host rock-bottom Wolves on Saturday evening – a match you can watch live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

FORMER ARSENAL DEFENDER MARTIN KEOWN SALUTES DOMINANT WIN ON TNT SPORTS COMMS
"It’s a good night for Arsenal to restore the confidence [following the loss to Aston Villa last time out]. It keeps the noise down, keeps the journey going in the right direction.
"Six wins [from six] in the Champions League, I think they are very proud of that. Sitting comfortably at the top of Europe, top of the Premier League and an important game coming up at the weekend to underline that against Wolves. And hopefully one or two players back from injury as well."
More from Keown: "Lots of good moments, Jesus coming off the bench after an ACL, young [Marli] Salmon coming off the bench at 16 years of age, making his debut for the club, which is an amazing moment for him and his family, and Calafiori going into central defence, which is another option for the manager.
"Not to mention six wins on the bounce is great for the confidence all round!"

VIDEO: MARTINELLI NETS FOR THE FIFTH UCL MATCH IN A ROW
On TNT Sports comms, Martin Keown: "What about that for a strike? He's just killed this crowd here. This change of pace is deadly, and once he gets to that side, it's in his head 'I'm going to pull the trigger.'
"Once he steps inside and gets that space...that is a wonderful effort from there.
"I think his confidence would have been wounded a little bit, because he's been a bit of a bit part player for so many years playing on that left. That just says 'Look don't forget about me, I'm still here. Look at the quality I have.
"There are lots of players that can talk a good game when the competition comes, but he's really dealt with that exceptionally well because he's come off the bench on many occasions to score really good goals, and he's done it from the off here."
