'Serve-bot' Carlos Alcaraz declares 'grass mode activated' after making Queen's final with win over Roberto Bautista Agut

Carlos Alcaraz won his 250th tour-level match as he beat Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets to advance to the Queen’s final. World No. 2 Alcaraz said his serve was a "really good weapon" after firing down 15 aces to set up a meeting with Jiri Lehecka, who upset Jack Draper in the semis. Alcaraz will be the defending champion at Wimbledon, which starts on June 30.

Carlos Alcaraz declared it was "grass mode activated" after beating Roberto Bautista Agut to reach the Queen’s final.
The world No. 2 won 6-4 6-4 as he recorded his 250th career victory on the ATP Tour and 17th in a row.
Per the ATP, Alcaraz is 26-1 since losing his opening match to David Goffin at the Miami Open in March.
"I just feel that I’m playing great tennis and feeling more comfortable after each match," said Alcaraz, who was watched in the stands by US Open doubles partner Emma Raducanu.
"Making the final here at Queen’s once again is so special, so I guess grass mode is activated."
Alcaraz is bidding for his second Queen’s title after triumphing in 2023 and will soon have his sights on a third successive Wimbledon win when the Grand Slam starts on June 30.
His serve was impressive against Bautista Agut as he fired down 15 aces, his record in a three-set match.
"I am starting to think I am a serve-bot," he joked afterwards.
"No I’m kidding. After the match against [Jaume] Munar [in the last 16] I wanted to improve my serve game, I put a lot of focus on the practice to improve my serve and yesterday and today it was a really good weapon for me.
"I am feeling great and serving that good gives you a lot of confidence from the baseline."

The Spaniard will face Jiri Lehecka in the final after he upset second seed Jack Draper in three sets.
Alcaraz hit 37 winners against Bautista Agut and won the first set with an incredible drop volley that drew smiles from both players.
"I always say that I love playing tennis, I love stepping on the court and putting on a show for the crowd, making them enjoy watching my games," said Alcaraz.
"Every time I put a smile on my face, I show my best tennis, so I try to do that. That’s why I’m getting good results."
Alcaraz beat Lehecka on his way to winning Queen's in 2023 but the Czech won their most-recent meeting in Doha earlier this year.
