PREM Rugby final team news: Immanuel Feyi-Waboso returns for Exeter Chiefs against unchanged Northampton Saints

Exeter Chiefs have been given a huge boost before the Gallagher PREM final against Northampton Saints, with star winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso cleared to start at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham after recovering from a facial fracture suffered at the end of May.

The 23-year-old England international picked up the injury during a crucial 35-26 regular-season win away to Leicester Tigers and could only watch on during the nail-biting semi-final victory over Bath.

However, he has been deemed fit for the final in one of two changes to the Exeter starting XV, with Ethan Roots also coming in at flanker for Christ Tshiunza.

Northampton director of rugby Phil Dowson has, on the other hand, put his faith in the same starting XV that got the better of Leicester last weekend, as captain George Furbank prepares for his final game in the green and gold before his move to Harlequins.

”This is week 50 for this group, having started pre-season back in July, and now this is the last hurdle," Dowson said via the club website.

"This is a special week and we want to make sure that we enjoy that, but also stick to our guns and rely on what’s got us to this point as a group. We want to make the occasion special and the performance normal."

For Saints, who topped the table at the end of the regular season and sealed their spot in the final with a hard-fought win over Leicester Tigers, a victory at would secure them their second domestic title in three years and third overall.

A Chiefs win, on the other hand, would put the gloss on their return to form. Since losing out in the final five years ago, Rob Baxter’s side have gone through something of a slump. Three consecutive seventh-place finishes were followed by the worst campaign in the club’s history last season, in which they finished above only Newcastle Red Bulls in ninth.

Fast-forward 12 months, however, and the outlook has been transformed. After a dramatic one-point victory away to defending champions Bath in the semis, Exeter now have a chance to also lift their third PREM title and complete their own fairytale story.

"Ahead of this season, the crucial, most important thing in our DNA that we had to rediscover was that competitiveness that if you can’t win, you draw," Baxter said.

"I think the boys bought into that very early in pre-season and I think that’s been one of those key areas that, having learned it, allowed us to get to the scenario that we did at Bath last weekend.

"This is going to be a tough game, but the lads are aligned in their purpose. That makes you stronger as a group."
