"At this stage, there are no signs Weir's exit may disrupt The Reds' plans, but it may lead to The Seagulls having an even harder stance on transfer negotiations.

"The Manchester Evening News understands that United were relaxed about missing out on the 21-year-old as they were willing to wait until 2026 to complete a deal if necessary."

Mather's deal to Turkey collapses

Sam Mather's move to Turkey collapsed after Manchester United decided there was not time to complete the deal.

That is according to a report in The Manchester Evening News after the winger's move to Kayserispor fell through on Friday.

The article reads: "Mather, 21, was keen to leave this summer to kickstart his career in the senior game.

"Talks were at an advanced stage with Kayserispor on Turkey's deadline day, but the deal collapsed and Mather remains at United.

"Kayserispor pushed hard to sign Mather on a permanent deal. The fee and buyback clause were agreed, and it's understood personal terms were also verbally agreed with the forward.

"United outlined a time for an agreement to be finalised and sign-off by the board was required, but the club eventually decided they did not have enough time to facilitate the transfer."

Liverpool have Quansah buy-back clause

The Liverpool Echo reports, via The Athletic, that The Reds have the option of re-signing defender Jarell Quansah should they wish to do so in the future.

The defender left Anfield to join Bayer Leverkusen, in a deal worth £35m.

The outlet writes: "The Athletic have provided details of Jarell Quansah's move to Bayer Leverkusen this summer, which was rubber-stamped after Liverpool agreed a £35 million deal.

"The report claims that The Reds included a buy-back clause into the deal, and already have a contract lined-up to re-sign Quansah should they wish to do so in the future."
