The outlet suggests the club must boost its revenue to manage the substantial spending from last year, as they chase a first Premier League title since 2004.

The report adds: "It is understood that there are discussions around who would yield the most lucrative sale and whether more than one player might have to go – Arsenal spent £268 million in fees alone after the end of their most recently completed financial year.

"The two academy graduates, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, are candidates for sale with neither currently in favour, although the risks of letting two homegrown talents leave are clear.

"Squad planning is a challenge for all clubs under Premier League and UEFA cost controls. The rationale for selling academy graduates is obvious given the value it adds to the bottom line and compliance with cost controls.

"The same would be the case with club captain Martin Odegaard, fundamental to Arteta’s team, who will reach two years from the end of his contract in the summer. "Odegaard, who was voted club captain by staff and players, is considered a hugely important presence on and off the field."

Gabriel Martinelli and Ben White are also strong candidates to leave, according to the outlet.

A report in Metro claims Manchester City believe they have the "upper hand over Manchester United" in the battle for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Anderson is said to be in demand this summer after a sterling season with relegation-threatened Forest.

Pep Guardiola was afforded the opportunity to watch him up close when the England international scored the equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Man City on Tuesday, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

"Both Manchester clubs have expressed interest in signing Elliot Anderson but Man City are confident they are leading the race and believe he ‘favours’ a move to the Etihad rather than Old Trafford," states the outlet.

"According to talkSPORT, Man City are preparing to step up their interest in Anderson after his impressive display at the Etihad and believe he would rather join the blue half of Manchester over United.

"Nottingham Forest spent £35m to sign Anderson from Newcastle United two years ago and are believed to want almost treble that figure this summer."

Edu told to stay away from Forest

Nottingham Forest’s global head of football, Edu Gaspar, has been told to "stay away from the club", reports The Telegraph.

Edu left Arsenal to join the backroom staff at Forest in July last summer. But just eight months later his departure is now seemingly inevitable.

"Nottingham Forest have told Edu Gaspar, their global head of football, to stay away from the club as his departure moves closer," reads the article.

"Edu’s turbulent tenure at the City Ground is approaching an end after less than eight months in the role, with Forest notifying him not to visit either the club’s training ground or stadium.

"Telegraph Sport understands that Edu was not at Forest’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Wednesday night. It is the third successive match that the Brazilian has missed.

"Forest appointed the former Arsenal sporting director in July but his time at the City Ground has proven difficult with four different managers and a number of poor signings made in a £200m spending spree.

"Former Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo fell out with Edu weeks after his appointment. It was that relationship breakdown which is ultimately viewed as the major contributory factor behind Nuno’s sacking in September.

"Nuno has since been succeeded by Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and now Vítor Pereira. Dyche was sacked last month and has called the decision to dispense with him after 114 days in charge a ‘head-scratcher.’"

"That's according to CFBayern, who suggest Arsenal view the teenager as a future prospect in midfield. The Gunners' central partnership this campaign has primarily featured Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi, with Christian Norgaard unable to oust either of the duo.

"Arsenal are anticipated to encounter rivalry from Manchester United and Bayern Munich should they opt to chase a move. He is said to have a £10.5m release clause becoming active in the summer."
