The Newcastle Chronicle believes the 22-year-old will depart St James' Park in the summer, though Bayern may struggle to afford him.
The paper explains: ”As now seems likely, Gordon could have just three more games left as a Newcastle player, with interest in his signature growing by the day.
”Bayern Munich have made their intentions clear, although whether they are willing to pay what United will demand is another matter, but there are a host of other clubs across Europe monitoring the situation closely.
”Gordon has not featured in the first-team since the defeat at Crystal Palace almost a month ago, with a hip injury keeping him out of the defeats to Bournemouth and Arsenal, before he was an unused substitute in the win over Brighton last weekend.”
Man Utd and Arsenal face Gomes disappointment
The Sun believes that Manchester United and Arsenal may face disappointment after tracking Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes.
Instead of remaining in the Premier League after Wolves drop to the Championship, the Brazilian is reportedly close to moving to Atletico Madrid.
The paper reports: ”Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Joao Gomes.
”The Brazilian midfielder has been a rare bright spark at Wolves this season despite the club’s relegation to the Championship.
”His performances had seen him gain the interest of both the Gunners and United. However, Gomes seems set to snub a stay in the Premier League and make a move over to Spain’s La Liga.
”Multiple reports have claimed that he is close to agreeing a switch to Atletico Madrid. It is suggested that a deal is almost agreed between the clubs over a £40 million fee.”
Barca came close to Vini Jr deal
Barcelona almost signed Vinicius Junior before he joined Real Madrid, according to a story in The Athletic.
The club’s former president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, explained that the Brazilian had been in talks over a proposed transfer years ago.
The website states: ”Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said Vinicius Junior had a ‘preliminary agreement’ to join the club prior to his move to Real Madrid.
”'Vinicius Jr was of interest to us (Barca),’ Bartomeu, who was Barcelona president between 2014 and 2020, told ESPN Deportes. ‘We spoke with his family, with his agents, and there was indeed an initial agreement.’
”Bartomeu then added, of how Vinicius Jr ended up instead at Barca’s rivals in the Spanish capital: ‘Madrid possibly made a better offer than Barca and took Vinicius.’”
Mourinho linked with Real Madrid
The Mirror are the latest newspaper to link Benfica manager Jose Mourinho with a return to his former club Real Madrid.
Alvaro Arbeloa will not keep the Real head coach job beyond the end of the season and Mourinho appears to be the front-runner - despite the tabloid suggesting Chelsea could attempt to bring him back to Stamford Bridge for a third spell.
The paper notes: ”Mourinho is thought to be the favoured choice of Los Blancos president Florentino Perez when it comes to replacing Alvaro Arbeloa this summer. The Special One has not regularly been vying for league titles since he left Chelsea in 2016, managing the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Roma.
”However Mourinho remains a hugely respected figure and would be able to command a dressing room. Chelsea have continued to invest annually in their squad, but it hasn't bought them closer to the summit of the Premier League and plenty believe a strong personality in the dugout could aid the club's ambitions.”
