Como confirm former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas as head coach on permanent basis ahead of Serie A return

Cesc Fabregas has been appointed as manager of Serie A newboys Como after their caretaker manager Osian Roberts became head of development. Fabregas was the club's assistant manager and had been part of the playing staff as they gained promotion following a 21-year absence from the Italian league's top flight. Como have signed stars such as Pepe Reina ahead of the new season.

Cesc Fabregas has been appointed the head coach of Serie A side Como, after he was promoted from his role as an assistant on the coaching team.
The 37-year-old Spaniard agreed a four-year contract to remain with the club in his new position ahead of their return to the Italian top flight.
Como ended a 21-year wait to get back into Serie A after securing promotion last season, with Fabregas part of the playing staff for their successful campaign.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder had been caretaker manager for four games last year, and has now been given the role on a permanent basis.
“I am so happy to be starting this season as head coach and I thank the ownership group for trusting me with this position," Fabregas said in a club statement.
He continued: "I share the ambitions of the group and believe this is just the start of where this club can go.

"It’s going to be a tough and important season but myself and the rest of the coaching staff are ready and we all believe.”
Fabregas was considered for the position after previous caretaker Osian Roberts moved to become the club’s head of development.
Mirwan Suwarso, official representative of the ownership group, commented: “It’s an honour for us to officially appoint Cesc as head coach.
"The impact of his knowledge, experience and passion is already evident in the success of last season and the evolution of our playing style.
“We believe that this is just the start though and look forward to continuing working with Cesc this season and for many years to come.”
Como have been active in the transfer market, having signed Pepe Reina already and are reportedly looking to add former Manchester United defender Raphael Varane, among others.
