Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim watched his side fight back to claim a 1-1 Premier League draw at their old rivals Leeds on Sunday. The visitors went behind and had a Matheus Cunha strike to thank for a share of the points, after he was set up by Joshua Zirkzee. Following the match, Amorim warned his players that they should keep their focus on their current club rather than elsewhere.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim warned his players that if they are thinking about a different club, then "there is something wrong with you".

The United boss had cut a frustrated figure in the press conference before Sunday's clash at Leeds, suggesting that there would be no transfers in or out of the club in the January transfer window.

His depleted side - missing big-name players like Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire - were 1-0 behind to Brenden Aaronson’s 62nd-minute strike, before Matheus Cunha levelled three minutes later.

Cunha was assisted by Joshua Zirkzee, who had been on the pitch for around a minute before he made a decisive intervention to tee up the Brazilian.

The Dutchman has come in for criticism for his recent performances, and he has been linked with a loan-to-permanent move to Italian side AS Roma before the transfer window closes in the coming weeks.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Amorim was asked about Cunha, the goalscorer, and he picked out not just the forward, but Zirkzee, Benjamin Sesko and Manuel Ugarte for praise.

"Not just him played, but Josh played well in the 20 minutes he played," Amorim said. "Ben linked the play well today. Ugarte is showing that he has more to give, and I am really pleased. If these guys play well, we always have the chance to win the game."

Amorim was also quizzed about potential comings and goings in the market, and he appeared to focus on his existing players.

Zirkzee has been linked with a move away, as have other players, notably Mainoo, who is believed to have numerous suitors both in the Premier League and around Europe. Youngsters Chido Obi-Martin and Harry Amass have also been the subject of recent comments from the head coach.

Amorim also appeared to warn his squad that they should be most concerned about the task at hand at their current club, rather than being distracted by a move elsewhere.

Following a question about Zirkzee's performance, Amorim added: "United is one of the best clubs in the world. If you are here and focusing on a different club, then something is wrong with you.

"Just focus on the game and prepare with the players that we have. We have more too. I expect more minutes for Fernandes and [the injured Mason] Mount, so we have more players that can help us."

Overall, Amorim was pleased with the point, saying: "I think we played well. I think we had more control in this game than we showed against Wolverhampton.

"That is important because it shows how you can prepare for this week with the mistakes that we learnt from the last game.

"We controlled Leeds, on the set-pieces, the second balls, they are really quick up front. We controlled it well.

"We had our opportunities to win the game. We are losing games on the details - the Leeds goal, we are controlling the game and then one kick of the ball in transition control, but we managed to get back into the game.

"Last year it would be completely different. This year we are more in control of the games than we were last year. But we are frustrated not to win."
