Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche as their new manager, with the former Burnley and Everton boss signing a contract running through to the summer of 2027.
It marks an emotional return to City Ground for Dyche, who was a former Forest trainee as a player.
The 54-year-old becomes Forest’s third manager this season, following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked just 39 days into the job - and only 17 minutes after Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
Dyche's managerial debut will come on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League when Forest host Porto - live on TNT Sports and discovery+ - before they face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
Postecoglou failed to register a win in eight matches, drawing two and losing six, after taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed after just three games.
A club statement read: "Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as the club’s new head coach, following a thorough recruitment process led by global head of football, Edu Gaspar, and global technical director, George Syrianos.
"A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen, and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter.
"Having managed more than 330 Premier League matches, Dyche has built teams defined by defensive organisation, resilience, and strength from set pieces - qualities that align closely with the current squad’s attributes and the club’s footballing identity.

"As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche has a deep understanding of the values and pride of Forest and its supporters. With his character, tactical acumen, and man-management skills, his appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions."
Forest currently sit 18th in the Premier League, having secured just one victory in eight matches amid a challenging start to the campaign.
Dyche's appointment also marks the return of Ian Woan and Steve Stone to City Ground as part of the new coaching staff.
The statement added: "Dyche will be joined by his experienced coaching team of Ian Woan and Steve Stone - both former Nottingham Forest players who collectively made more than 400 appearances for The Reds during the 1990s."
