Arsenal, meanwhile, have ambitions of winning Europe's most prestigious competition for the first time, fresh off the celebrations of their Premier League triumph.

The winners of the Champions League receive €25 million (£21.7m) from UEFA after lifting Ol' Big Ears.

That is in addition to the prize money collected from advancing through the previous rounds, which includes incentives for wins and draws in the league phase, as well as position in the table.

Reaching the semi-final, for example, comes with prize money of €15m (£13m), while the quarter-final is €12.5m (£10.8m) and the last 16 €11m (£9.5m).

That means the eventual winners will likely have earned a significant sum in total prize money, useful even for the continent's richest clubs.

The losing side in Budapest will have some compensation, although it is unlikely to lessen the disappointment.

Defeated finalists receive €18.5m (£16m) and could also have accumulated a sizeable total by the competition's end.

PSG are certainly not strapped for cash, and their coffers were bolstered further by their first Champions League success last year.

How much will Arsenal earn if they win the Champions League?

Arsenal, if they beat PSG, will have accumulated a total close to €90m (£78m) in prize money across the competition in 2025/26.

That is because the Gunners won all eight of their league phase matches.

PSG, who only won four of their eight league phase games, stand to earn less than Arsenal if they defend their title in Hungary.

The ultimate incentive for both sides, though, will be to be crowned champions of Europe - with the money a welcome bonus.
