WSL round-up: Chelsea boosted in race for UEFA Women's Champions League spot as Manchester United slip up

Chelsea kept their very slim title hopes alive after Manchester City's slip-up on Saturday - and more realistically boosted their top-three hopes - with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Everton in the WSL.

Sam Kerr gave The Blues an early lead, but they were pegged back quickly by a stunning long-range strike from Yuka Momiki.
In the second half, though, Kerr's second, and goals from Ellie Carpenter and Erin Cuthbert, closed out an important victory as they seek to continue to push City to the final day of the WSL season.
Chelsea's victory came a day after City had been stunned by Brighton & Hove Albion, setting up a potentially exciting title run-in.
Second-placed Chelsea closed the gap to six points with two games of the season remaining, and moved four points ahead of Manchester United in the UEFA Women's Champions League spots.
Fourth-placed Arsenal have three games in hand on the teams above them, so they could also still have a chance at challenging for the title.
"It’s hard to come here and get a win, they’re a good team," Kerr said. "Most importantly for us, there’s still plenty to play for. We want to be in the Champions League, and that's why it was so important to get the three points."
Kerr's double meant she equalled Fran Kirby's WSL goal record with Chelsea, something she said she was "very proud of."
"Even to be in the same conversation as someone like Fran is amazing, she’s a legend of this club and a legend of the game," the Australian said. "This is a massive club and something I’m very proud of."
Elsewhere on Sunday, Manchester United missed out on a big opportunity to maintain their push for Champions League qualification with a disappointing 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
United struggled to build pressure on a resilient Spurs side, with the home side actually having more possession, shots and a higher expected goals than United.
Despite having to settle for a draw, United move up to third - and into a Champions League qualification spot. But with Arsenal just a point behind them, and with three games in hand, missing out on all three points could prove pivotal.
The main positive for United came in the second half when fit-again Ella Toone came off the bench to make her first appearance in 2026.
In what could be a vital game with lots of ramifications resting on it, Chelsea host Manchester United on the final day of the WSL season.

Also on Sunday, London City Lionesses piled more misery on bottom side Leicester City with a 5-1 thrashing at Hayes Lane Stadium.
Shannon O'Brien did give Leicester an early lead, but London City romped back in impressive fashion, with Lucia Corrales, Isobel Goodwin, Malou Marcetto, Grace Geyoro and Freya Godfrey all getting on the scoresheet in the convincing win.
The defeat is Leicester's 14th of the season, and means they will likely need a miracle to escape relegation.
The final game of Sunday saw West Ham United claim a massive win in their hunt to avoid the drop, beating fellow relegation strugglers Liverpool 1-0.
Cornelia Kapocs's own goal in the sixth minute proved decisive as Liverpool huffed and puffed for an equaliser but to no avail.
The three points mean West Ham are now seven points off 12th-placed Leicester, although The Foxes have a game in hand. Liverpool are just one point ahead of West Ham in 10th spot.
