Tottenham announce inaugural Women's Super League and Premier League double-header - 'Fantastic opportunity'

On Saturday May 20, Tottenham men's side will play Brentford in their final home Premier League game of the season. Following that, the Spurs women's team will take to the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Reading in the Women's Super League, with supporters attending the first game able to stay on for the second game, in what the club called a "fantastic opportunity".

Spurs have announced an inaugural Women's Super League and Premier League double-header to be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later this month.

In what the club described as a "fantastic opportunity", fans attending the men's final home game of the season - against Brentford at 12.30pm UK time on May 20 - will be able to stay on for the women's equivalent against Reading, which kicks off at 16:15.

A club statement read: "All tickets for the Premier League fixture will now be inclusive of the WSL fixture, giving regular followers of our Men’s team a fantastic opportunity to make a day of it at the stadium and show their support for Spurs Women in what is set to be a crucial match in the fight for top-flight survival."

Spurs currently find themselves ninth in the WSL after a difficult season which has seen them pick up just four wins from their 19 games to date.

They are just three points off the bottom of the table, currently occupied by Reading, meaning their May 20 clash takes on extra significance in the race to avoid relegation.

Spurs sacked manager Rehanne Skinner in March after a run of nine successive defeats put their campaign into a tailspin.

She was succeeded by now interim boss Vicky Jepson, who has overseen some difficult results herself - including a 5-1 North London derby defeat to Arsenal on March 26 - but has vowed to stick by her group.

“I am here as long as the club want me here but I am not going anywhere from the girls’ point of view. I am with them through thick and thin," Jepson said after losing to Jonas Eidevall's Gunners.

“I’ll give 110 per cent, just as the girls will, and we’ll battle right until the very end. Hopefully that is enough to keep us in the WSL.”

Spurs travel to title-chasing Manchester United this Sunday in the WSL.
