Marco Odermatt continues perfect giant slalom start to dominate alpine skiing season with home win in Adelboden

The reigning Olympic champion Marco Odermatt was untouchable on home snow, with runs of 56.15 and 57.91 seconds in helping him to a comfortable 1.26s win in Adelboden, Switzerland. Odermatt has won all four of the giant slalom events in addition to a Super-G success in Bormio just before New Year. Aleksander Kilde was second for Norway, while Croatia's Filip Zubcic was third.

Marco Odermatt maintained his 100% winning record in giant slalom this season with another comfortable victory in front of his home fans in Adelboden, Switzerland.
The reigning Olympic champion was untouchable on home snow, with runs of 56.15 and 57.91 seconds in helping him to a comfortable 1.26s victory.
Conditions were difficult as the competitors had to deal with fog but that did not stop Odermatt extending his perfect run for the campaign so far.
Race organisers reduced the course length as a safety measure, with the race usually lasting 80 seconds, though this time it was reduced to just under a minute.
Odermatt has won all four of the giant slalom events in addition to a Super-G success in Bormio just before New Year.
He celebrated by leaping onto a safety barrier, and said after the race: "It was amazing. It was obviously not an easy nice race today."
The win at Chuenisbargli is his third in the row, an achievement already recorded by Ingemar Stenmark and Hermann Maier before Odermatt.
The Swiss holds the overall World Cup lead and is 272 points clear of nearest rival Marco Schwarz, in what is already a massive margin as he chases a third straight Crystal Globe.
Aleksander Kilde was second for Norway, a career-best finish, while Croatia's Filip Zubcic completed the podium.
